S.W. Arb Technical Services our sister company carry out our tree and woodland operations and consultant services, it is wholly owned by Nick Withers.

Tree Surgery We have a skilled team of tree surgeons who carry out tree pruning, crown reductions, crown lifting, deadwood removal and tree felling. For every tree we fell we replace with a new native tree in our woodland.

All tree work is carried out with reference to BS3998 : 2010 Recommendations for Tree Work.

Woodland Management We carry out various practical woodland management tasks including tree felling, thinning, brashing, coppicing, tree planting, beating up etc. We have experience of working in the biomass industry and have worked extensively with willow short rotation coppice and poplar trees. We can act as your agent undertaking English Woodland Grant Scheme applications and Felling license applications.

Tree and Woodland Safety Surveys and Inspections

Where a tree is hazardous because of decay or structural weakness and shows signs of such a condition, the occupier of the land on which it stands is normally liable under UK law for any personal injury or other damage it causes by breaking or falling. Periodic inspection of all trees on your property is advisable.

We offer a Walkover Survey whereby our surveyor does not inspect each tree individually but makes a cursory visual assessment of your trees, only inspecting those showing signs of debility or structural weakness. The aim is to identify safety issues and make recommendations. This provides a quick, cost effective approach to surveying, but does not give the benefit of the detail provided by inspection. Reports are typically in a tabulated form with trees being grouped where necessary.

A Tree Inspection seeks to look at the trees in more detail and is undertaken from the ground.  Again groups of trees may be assessed collectively rather than individually. The assessment will focus on their safety, as well as making recommendations for their future management. Reports are tabulated for easy access and are supported by a sketch plan.

Where necessary we can perform a Climbing Tree Inspection for a more detailed investigation of defects, for example cracks or cavities, that might not be fully visible from the ground.

Quantified Tree Risk Assessment

Evergreen Gardens are licensed users of the QTRA Methodology which provides a unique method of making a 'target led' approach to tree survey or inspection.
The methodology allows us to identify which parts of the population need inspection soonest and to develop tree risk strategies based on the data collected.

Tree Preservation Orders (TPO) and Conservation Area applications

If you have a tree that needs work, but may be covered by a TPO or is in a Conservation Area, we can carry out the necessary negotiations with the LPA and complete and send the TPO or Conservation Area application off on your behalf. See the Trees and the Law section for more guidance. Nick has undergone training and assessment and submitted a planning application to be peer reviewed and has been Accredited by the Consulting Arborist Society.
